4 Reasons Why You Might Be Lacking Motivation

I think every human has experienced a lack of motivation at some point in their lives. Maybe it was something small, maybe it was something bigger that took years to overcome.

Regardless of what you’re lacking motivation for, the first step to gaining it back is to figure out why you lost it.

Keep reading to learn about some of the most common causes for lack of motivation and how to overcome them, and also get a free diffuser blend that will have you wishing your to-do list was longer!

1. Not Doing Enough

This statement might seem somewhat odd, but it’s true! Have you ever had a Saturday where you stayed at home and did absolutely nothing? A day when you weren’t sick, but just “relaxing”. How did you feel during that day? For most people, the answer is “tired”. Now imagine the opposite – a day where you had a jam-packed schedule. You had a lot planned, and you were probably able to continue moving from one activity to the next. If you think this could be the issue, try doing the exact opposite of what you want. Try and get started on something.

2. Feeling Overwhelmed

Sometimes, when you have a lot to do and feel overwhelmed, your mind and body shut down. Instead of figuring out the details, it tries to give your mind momentary relied by doing nothing. Just like doing nothing can cause a lack of motivation, having too much to do can do the same.  If this is you, try splitting up your bigger tasks into smaller tasks. That way you have items you can accomplish in a short amount of time.

3. Not Enough Sleep

Lack of sleep affects how both our minds and bodies function. A car won’t run without fuel, and neither will we! 4. Medical Reasons

Sometimes different illnesses and health related issues can cause us to lack motivation. The first step to figuring out if this is the problem is to book an appointment with your doctor. If you think your lack of motivation could be related to a mental illness such as depression or anxiety, I also highly recommend talking with a therapist.
